No paid experience yet? You still have plenty to put on your resume.

Everyone starts somewhere. The key is to translate coursework, personal projects, volunteering, internships, and part-time work into evidence that you can deliver results.

Replace experience with proof

Employers care about what you can do, not only where you have been employed. Projects, university assignments, hackathons, and freelance work all count if they are relevant.

  • Class projects that mirror real work
  • Open-source contributions or personal apps
  • Volunteer roles with measurable outcomes
  • Part-time jobs that show reliability and soft skills

Lead with skills and education

When experience is light, move education and a skills section higher. Combine hard skills with a few proof points so they do not look like a list of buzzwords.

Use numbers whenever possible

Even small metrics help. 'Built a website for a local charity' is fine. 'Built a website that raised event sign-ups by 30%' is much stronger.
